Detroit/Highland Park Water News

I screened “Water Wars” in the Bronx on Saturday to an audience of about 40 folks from across the country. It was well received and I was asked to send out more information about what was up with the water situation in Detroit and HP. While collecting URL’s, I came across this article in the Detroit Free Press about Marian Kramer, founder of the National Welfare Rights Union. It’s a pretty good piece. She was nominated for a well deserved award for the work she has done in Highland Park fighting the water crisis. It also reported that the water affordability plan that the Michigan Welfare Rights Organization and the Highland Park Human Rights Coalition have been working on for a few years went into effect on July 1st! This is a victory that was a long time coming. Congratulations and thanks to the organizers and citizens that fought hard to make this happen.
